Enjoy Thanksgiving Fun in Cook County

Real Estate

1With thanksgiving right around the corner, we thought we would share some local events happening in Rolling Meadows and Palatine Township in Cook County. These towns are wonderful places to get into the spirit of Thanksgiving, being grateful and helping others is easy to do here.

With Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season being a time centered around eating, perhaps it’s also a good time to dust off those running shoes. Palatine 2Township has you covered with their annual Turkey Trot, a 2 and 5-mile run on Thanksgiving morning. An added benefit is long -sleeve shirts and goody bags are available to the first 2,000 runners, and prizes and awards will be given out to top place finishers. Why not participate?

Volunteering is ALWAYS in season, especially during the holidays. Palatine township has their annual Needy Family Fund Thanksgiving Program. This program is a long-standing tradition which provides struggling families with a basket full of thanksgiving meal necessities so they too, can have a wonderful family meal. However, if you wish to donate a basket, hurry- the sign-up deadline is fast approaching on November 3rd!

3If you miss the deadline for Palatine Township, Rolling Meadow Rotary’s Stuff a Bag Food Drive is collecting Thanksgiving meal staples until November 10th. If you’re still looking for ways to donate, another great resource is the Chicago Food Bank, Palatine Township Location. In fact, if you are still up for more running, The Chicago Food Bank’s Annual Turkey Trot is another great fundraiser to participate in or donate to.

Of course, we can’t forget the Turkey on Thanksgiving. For a true community Thanksgiving dinner this holiday, All Saints Church Invites those who don’t have the resources for a nice Thanksgiving meal, and those who would like to enjoy their holiday meal surrounded by new friends, to come to their Community Thanksgiving Meal.
