Help Others Brighter Future @ The Bridge Color Run

girls-438152_1920Community events often provide a great opportunity to help others in need while having a great time. Foot races are a popular way to create an event which people of all ages can enjoy. Add in a bit of color and you have a truly exciting family-friendly gathering. Coming up Saturday, September 16th, is the perfect opportunity to help raise funds for an incredible organization which I am proud to support myself. The Bridge Color Run is a community 5k like no other.

If you have not participated in a Color Run before, you are in for a real treat. As runners make their way along the course, packets of colored powders (all safe & non-toxic) are let loose. Participants begin in white and end wearing a virtual rainbow of color from head to toe. The original inspiration behind these runs comes from the world-wide celebrations of Holi, an annual Hindu celebration of life and renewal.

With the goal of aiding area youths and families seeking help in times of need, Bridge Youth & Family Services has organized a Color Run of their own, putting the “fun” in ‘Fundraiser’, and helping Palatine families and youth attain a brighter future. The Color Run brings together the carefree joy of running through a rainbow of colors and a chance to help the community in one exciting event.

As a fundraiser, the Bridge Color Run has been organized to promote community efforts in raising donations. Once registered for the run, participants will have access to a donation page which can then be shared among family, friends and colleagues to help raise additional funds through the event. Volunteers are always needed for community events such as this, so even if you are not up for the race, you can still make a difference.

The Bridge Color run begins at Palatine Town Square at 9:30 a.m. for last-minute registrations and prep before the run which starts at 10:30 a.m. Be sure to wear white so your colors will truly stand out as you make your way along the route. You can also walk instead of run, which is a great way to include younger kids too.

Add more fun and a great time for the family right after the race at the Palatine Oktoberfest Family Day, which is also being held on September 16th in Palatine. Together, these events are a wonderful way to experience the heart of the region, and see first-hand part of what makes this home-town community such a special place.
