Palatine Township Programs Benefit the Community

Real Estate

1When searching for a community to reside in, a little bit of research can go a long way. It is beneficial to find all you can about an area you are considering a move to. Palatine Township has a lot to offer families, professionals, first-time home buyers, younger generations and older generations alike. Among other things, Palatine Township is a community which cares. This is evident when you look at the different programs and assistance features the Township offers to its residents.

On the home-front, Palatine Township has a yard-debris program all residents, and future residents, should know about. To ensure your yard-debris is picked up on your scheduled day, Yard Waste Stickers are required on each yard-debris bag. Bags can hold garden and yard trimmings, weeds, grass clippings, leaves and small twigs. The Township Yard Waste Stickers provide an at-a-glance confirmation for sorting properly when debris is picked up. Sheets of 8 are available for $4.00 at the Palatine Township Center.

Health and safety are a top concern for many. Palatine Township provides easy access to some free safety kits which can make a big difference in an emergency. The File for Life kit is a health index card kept in a bright red holder, one big and ready to keep on the refrigerator, and one small and portable, perfect for the car or wallet. You fill out the card with your current health information such as prescriptions or allergies, and medical care contacts.

Another safety kit available through the Township is part of a State-wide program, known as IDOT Yellow DOT. Vehicles with an IDOT yellow dot sticker on the rear window quickly let safety personnel know you have a kit with emergency contact, medical conditions and other important information right in your glove box.  Both of these kits could help make the difference in an emergency situation.

Residents of Palatine Township can also save money on prescriptions with the Discount Rx Card. These cards can be used by anyone aged 18 or older, with or without insurance, and at pharmacies across the country.

There are also a variety of ways the Township seeks to help those less fortunate, including holiday programs such as Thanksgiving donations and Christmas Adopt-a-Family programs. The Palatine Food pantry is continually in need of volunteers and donations, providing a vital resource to many.
